Tidal Launches New Desktop App + Introduces $4.99 Student Pricing

Tidal is stepping it up ahead of Apple’s new streaming service rumored to launch next week.

The company today announced a new desktop player for Windows and Mac OS X in addition to announcing new student discounts.

Anyone with a valid .edu email address will soon get Tidal’s $9.99/month plan as well as the $19.99 plan for $4.99 and $9.99, respectively.

Spotify offers similar discount pricing for college students at $4.99/month.

If that’s not enough to entice you to use the service, Tidal also partnered with Ticketmaster to make it easier for users to purchase concert tickets.
