August Alsina returns to New Orleans while saluting the past and praying for the future in the music video for “Hip Hop,” which premiered during Sunday’s BET Awards.

In the Payne Lindsey-directed clip, the New Orleans native hits the block in a pair of overalls and reminisces on the days when Biggie got shot, while the TV shows present day images of police brutality.

August prays for better days ahead, walking through the streets with a baby in his arms, while people hold up “Black Lives Matter” signs.

August Alsina Speaks On Trying To Save His Eyesight Through Surgery

Over the last couple of years August Alsina has dealt with several health problems, but he's keeping his spirits high.

The latest scare involves the singer's eyesight. In an instagram post he explains that he's gone blind in his left eye and is losing sight in his right eye. He's undergone surgery that will hopefully correct the problem. Read what he had to say about it  below.

So I have this eye disease.. Blind in my left, and losing vision in my right. In order to prevent my eyesight from deteriorating ihad to do this surgery. This s*** is beyond painful & Life be throwin' a nigxa curve balls but what I've gained from it all is priceless... A lot of things that are so natural to us in life (like waking up and being able to see we can take it for granted. Thank God the OG for allowing me to see.. The good the bad the ugly, I'm just glad to see

[Music Video] August Alsina feat. Rick Ross – Benediction

August Alsina‘s Testimony has resonated with fans worldwide and last night at the BET Awards he relished in his success. The 21-year-old took home too big awards, including ‘Best New Artist’ and he beat out the likes of Beyoncé, Pharrell and more for ‘Viewers Choice.’

While he first premiered the anticipated music video for “Benediction” featuring Rick Ross on Saturday’s special episode of ’106 & Park,’ the visual has finally been released online.

Alsina will kick off his first headlining tour “Testimony Live” on August 14 in Seattle.
