Jay Z & Will Smith to Produce HBO Miniseries About Emmett Till

According to Variety:

Jay Z and Will Smith are teaming up to produce an HBO miniseries about Emmett Till.

Aaron Kaplan, Jay Brown and James Lassiter will also executive produce the project alongside Jay Z and Will.

In 1955, Emmett was 14 years old visiting relatives in Mississippi when he was kidnapped and brutally murdered by Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam for allegedly whistling at a white woman. His face and body were so badly mutilated that his mother insisted on having an open-casket funeral to show the world what had happened to her son.

The project is currently untitled.

Movie Trailer: The ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer Has Arrived

Warner Bros. Pictures rolled out the trailer for it's second potential 2016 blockbuster at Comic Con 2015.

Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (Floyd Lawton / Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Dr. Harleen F. Quinzel / Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne / Batman), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Waylon Jones / Killer Croc), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Adam Beach (Christopher Weiss / Slipknot), Jay Hernandez (Chato Santana / El Diablo), Ike Barinholtz (Hugo Strange).

Filming has wrapped up on Will Smith's upcoming movie, Focus. The crime/comedy/romance was directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa.

The Smith Family Stands Up Against Human Trafficking

Willow, Will Smith and Jada visited Capitol Hill wearing blazers over t-shirts that said “Free Slaves”. They also brought along three trafficking survivors to help underscore the gravity of the issue and press Congress for more action. Jada testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee about the problem of human trafficking at home and around the world


According to the HuffingtonPost:

Actress and activist Jada Pinkett Smith urged Congress on Tuesday to step up the fight against human trafficking in the U.S. and abroad.The actress testified during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing that she plans to launch a campaign to raise awareness and spur action against human trafficking and slavery. She said the “old monster” of slavery “is still with us,” almost 150 years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation that freed slaves in the U.S.“Fighting slavery doesn’t cost a lot of money. The costs of allowing it to exist in our nation and abroad are much higher,” the actress said. “It robs us of the thing we value most, our freedom.”The actress called for an extension of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, which provides funding to combat trafficking and help trafficking victims. The act also created a task force, chaired by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, which coordinates among federal agencies to implement policies against human trafficking.Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., pledged to try to gather bipartisan congressional support to further fund the act.The State Department estimates that at least 14,500 people are trafficked to the U.S. annually..
